Trrrym! POKKK! 🎶 And Other Bedtime Stories for Preschoolers Online About Musical Little Animals

“Trrrym! POKKK!” is a collection of gentle bedtime stories for preschoolers online about little animals who once discovered music in the most unexpected things: in a vzzziuu-string, a dandelion, a pea pod and even… their own teeth. These cosy stories with funny sound effects, playful humour and a dreamy bedtime rhythm were created especially for evening reading — so little ones can smile, listen, repeat: “trrrym!”, “vzzziuu!”, “POKKK!”, and then drift peacefully off to sleep without a paw or tail twitching.

The collection includes seven short stories — one for each day of the week. Although… however your family likes best! 😊

Little Chirpy dreamed of becoming a real musician. He wanted to play guitar more than anything in the world. But instead of hands, he only had soft fluffy wings. So all he could do was sigh sadly while cheerful grasshoppers fiddled away on their tiny violins from morning till sunset.

It was so-o-o unfair…

Then one sunny afternoon, Papa Rooster found a cotton swab lying in the grass. A little girl named Alice had used it to clean her doll’s ears and accidentally dropped it in the meadow.

Papa Rooster snapped it neatly in half.

And suddenly…

Two perfect drumsticks appeared!

Can you imagine?

Chirpy almost bounced out of his feathers with excitement.

He tucked the little sticks under his wing and hurried off to the flower field.

To drum properly, he had to hop into the air while gripping the sticks in his tiny feet.

And ohhh…

It was SO much fun!

First he tapped the bluebells:

tonnn! tonnn!

Then the fluffy dandelions:

poff-pomm! poff-pomm!

Then the white meadow daisies:

tap-tippy! tap-tappy!

And finally the pink clover blossoms:

tokk-tukk! tokk-tukk!

By evening, Chirpy had fluttered and drummed so much that his little legs could barely carry him home.

At dinner he managed to peck only

one,

two,

three,

four,

five

tiny wheat grains before… dozing off right at the table.

Mama Hen and Papa Rooster exchanged sleepy smiles.

Honestly?

They were absolutely delighted with this ending.

Papa gently carried Chirpy to his cosy little nest.

Mama Hen settled softly on top, fluffed up her warm feathery tummy, tucked her sleepy chick underneath and whispered:

Sleep tight, baby bird. Sleep tight.

🦝 Chomper Raccoon and the clickety-clack rattle

Illustration for a preschool bedtime story: a fluffy raccoon sits beside a pond happily scraping a stick across his big shiny teeth while a tiny frog and snail stare in amazement.
How does your little one react to silly animal sounds during bedtime stories? 👇

Story reading time: 3 minutes

Chomper Raccoon was extremely proud of his teeth.

They were big.
Sharp.
Strong.

Like a shiny white picket fence!

So Chomper showed them off constantly. He growled. He grumbled. He scared everyone. And sometimes…

He even nibbled people.

Yikes, right?

One chilly morning, Chomper caught a sniffly little cold. His nose began dripping, and he lifted his paw to wipe it.

(Although you and I know tissues work much better, don’t we?)

But Chomper forgot he was holding a thin bendy stick.

Only a moment earlier he had been planning to WHACK the tall marsh reeds — those wiggly sausage-looking reeds that always swayed way above his head like they were sooo important.

So up went the paw…

Scriiitch!

The stick scraped right across his giant teeth.

And suddenly:

TRRRRRYMMMM!

Chomper froze.

His eyes grew huge.

WOW.

What a sound!

His teeth were not just teeth anymore.

They were a real musical instrument!

A clickety-clack raccoon rattle!

From that day forward, Chomper stopped snapping his teeth at everybody.

And he definitely stopped biting.

Because honestly…

Have you ever seen a trumpet bite someone?

Or a violin?

Or a drum?

Of course not!

Now Chomper performed concerts instead:

trrrrymmm!
trrrr-ryyyymmm!
chrrr-clack-clack!

He played for himself.
He played for his friends.
He played for absolutely anyone willing to listen.

And the funny rattly music sounded wonderful beside the sleepy evening pond.

That night, curled up under his blanket and remembering his amazing discovery, Chomper felt happier than he had ever felt before.

Sleep tight, little one. Sleep tight.

🐭 Pippsy Mouse and the dandelion whistle

Story reading time: 3 minutes

One sunny afternoon, Pippsy Mouse skipped off to the meadow.

She wanted to weave herself a beautiful dandelion crown so she could become the prettiest little mouse in the whole wide world.

Nibble-nibble!

With her tiny sharp teeth, Pippsy bit through a dandelion stem close to the ground.

But oh dear…

The stem turned out MUCH too long.

So she bit off the extra piece and was just about to toss it away when suddenly she noticed something absolutely outrageous.

A tiny ant was sitting on the stem.

And worse than that…

The ant was making silly faces at her!

Just like a naughty little playground troublemaker.

Pippsy stamped her paw angrily.

“Shoo! Shoo!”

But the cheeky ant did not leave.

Instead, he zipped right inside the hollow dandelion tube Pippsy was still holding in her paws.

And from inside the stem…

He kept making faces at her!

Can you imagine?!

Pippsy became so-o-o cross that her whiskers almost twitched right off her cheeks.

She puffed out her tiny chest.

Opened her mouth as wide as possible.

And took the BIGGEST breath ever.

The ant took one quick look at her sharp little teeth and stormy whiskers…

And WHOOSH!

He disappeared straight into his ant tunnel.

Pippsy had only wanted to puff the rude little ant gently onto the grass.

But honestly?

At that moment she was so annoyed she probably would have blasted him clear to the moon.

So without realising the ant had already escaped, she blew into the dandelion stem with all her might.

Ffffffiiiiiuuuuuuuuuu!!!

A soft magical trill floated through the meadow.

Pippsy froze.

Her anger vanished instantly.

She blinked once.

Then twice.

And tried again:

Fffiiiu!
Fffiiiu!

Ohhh…

It sounded beautiful.

Like the sweetest tiny meadow whistle.

Pippsy happily tootled and whistled and played until the sky slowly turned golden with evening light.

And after so much whistling, her little head became wonderfully sleepy.

Her paws wobbled.
Her eyes drooped.

And before she even realised it…

She had fallen fast asleep beneath the dandelion bushes.

That was where Papa Mouse found her later that evening.

He gently picked up his sleepy little daughter…

Along with her precious dandelion whistle…

And carried her home to her soft fluffy bed made from poplar fluff and feathers.

Sleep tight, little Pippsy. Sleep tight.

🕷️ Webby Spider and the vzzziii-string

A fluffy, round brown Webby Spider hanging upside down from an oak tree branch on a thin white silk thread, laughing with joy.
Did this cheerful little spider bring a smile to your child’s face before bed? Let us know below! 👇

Story reading time: 3 minutes

Do you know how spiders make their webs?

No?

Well…

They pull silky threads out of tiny spinnerets near their little spider bottoms. And those threads can become REALLY long.

Longer than ten preschoolers standing on top of each other in one giant wobbly tower!

Pretty impressive, right?

Anyway…

One breezy afternoon, little Webby Spider sat high up in a tree feeling grumpy and bored.

He was completely tired of spinning webs.

Spin-spin-spin.

Every.
Single.
Day.

Honestly, what kind of spider life was that?

Then suddenly—

WHOOOSH!

A huge gust of wind smacked Webby right in the forehead.

Down he tumbled!

And he would have fallen all the way to the ground if his own silk thread had not caught him halfway down.

The very same thread he had spent all day complaining about.

Funny how that works sometimes.

As Webby dropped, he quickly attached his thread to a branch above him.

Now he dangled right in the middle of the air.

Slowly swaying.

Slowly spinning.

And while hanging there, Webby suddenly remembered just how exhausted he felt from all that weaving.

So instead of climbing back up…

He simply stayed there.

Dangling halfway between the tree branch and the soft green grass below.

But Webby had one tiny problem.

His spider bottom was adorably round and rather heavy.

So when the thread stretched—

BOIINNG!

Down bounced Webby.

Then back up again.

Then down again.

Then wobble-wobble-wobble!

And suddenly the stretched web-string began humming loudly in the wind:

VZZZIIIUUU!
VZZZIIIUUU!

The thread buzzed and twanged and tickled Webby’s little spider bottom so much that he started giggling uncontrollably.

He laughed.
And laughed.
And laughed some more.

Only after the tickles finally stopped did he notice the sound properly.

Webby’s eyes grew wide.

WOW.

His web could sing!

From that moment on, Webby became a true little musician.

Soon he learned all sorts of web-string songs:

“Vzzziiiuu! Vzzziiiuu!”

“Vzzzuuu! Vzzzuuu!”

“Vzziii! Vzziii!”

And even:

“Vzzzy-wiggle! Vzzzy-wiggle!”

Every evening Papa Spider eventually grew tired of hearing endless spider-string concerts echoing through the tree branches.

So with a very serious face—

SNIP!

He bit through the vzzziii-string.

Down dropped sleepy Webby, heavy as a pear, straight into the cosy little web-hammock Mama Spider had woven for him.

And because Webby was the happiest little spider in the whole forest…

He fell asleep immediately.

Night-night, little spider. Night-night.

🐹 Puffy Hamster and the shake-shake pea pod

Illustration for a cosy bedtime story: a chubby fluffy hamster with giant stuffed cheeks and bright blue eyes stands beside the river shaking a dry pea pod in surprise.
Does your little one like making simple musical instruments out of everyday things? Let us know in the comments! 👇

Story reading time: 3 minutes

Puffy Hamster had the puffiest cheeks in the entire meadow.

Honestly…

Even for a hamster, they were enormous.

Not cheeks anymore, really.

More like two fuzzy little tennis balls stuffed onto his face.

And somehow Puffy managed to cram giant mouthfuls of sunflower seeds into BOTH of them at the same time.

Nobody understood how.

Not even Puffy.

But Puffy had another very serious habit too.

He hid food under his bed.

Everywhere.

ALL the time.

Nuts.
Bread crusts.
Crackers.
Seeds.

And even pea pods.

Can you imagine?

Yep.
Even those.

At night, instead of sleeping peacefully like sensible little hamsters, Puffy would lie in bed quietly munch-munch-munching in the dark.

Even after he was already completely full.

What a funny little fluffball.

Then one busy morning, Puffy accidentally lost one of his favourite pea pods under the bed.

Just then Mama Hamster shouted:

“Hurry up! We’re late for preschool!”

And off Puffy scampered.

The pea pod stayed behind.

And, as you can probably guess…

It completely disappeared.

At first Puffy thought his big sister had stolen it.

Then he became absolutely certain his baby brother had dragged it away.

Then he got grumpy with Mum.

Then offended with Dad.

Then suspicious of Grandma.

Honestly, the poor little hamster blamed practically everyone.

What a disaster.

But eventually he forgot all about the missing pod.

After all, newer snacks kept appearing.

And newer snacks were MUCH more exciting.

Then one day, while shaking out an old boot beneath the bed—

RATTLE-RATTLE!

Mama Hamster found the missing pod.

“Look what I found!” she called. “Your little pea pod! I think it was hiding all by itself!”

The pod had dried out completely by now.

But it had never popped open.

Which meant…

The peas were still trapped inside!

Puffy grabbed the pod immediately and dashed towards the river path.

He had to eat it RIGHT NOW before it vanished again.

But while he scampered along, something funny happened.

Inside the dried pod—

bounce-bounce-bounce!

The little peas had loosened and started rattling around.

And with every tiny hamster step came a funny sound:

SHAKA-RING!
SHAKA-SHAKA-RING!

Puffy stopped so suddenly his whiskers twitched.

WOW.

That sound was AMAZING.

He shook the pod again.

SHAKA-TRRRR!
SHAKA-RING!

Puffy’s eyes grew round with wonder.

“What an incredible pea pod…” he whispered. “It’s like a real shake-shake rattle!”

And honestly?

It suddenly seemed far too interesting to eat.

That was how an ordinary dried pea pod became Puffy’s very first musical instrument.

From then on, Puffy no longer stayed awake secretly munching snacks at night.

Because now he had much more important work to do.

Every evening he curled up in bed hugging his precious little shake-shake pod tightly in both paws.

Just in case it decided to hide itself again.

And because…

Well…

It was simply too much fun.

Night-night, little Puffy. Sleep tight.

🎶 The big rehearsal — and one more musician

Story reading time: 4 minutes

So then, my sweet sleepy readers…

Now you finally understand why we met all those wonderful little musicians:

Chirpy Chick, the flower drummer,

Chomper Raccoon, the clickety-clack rattler,

Pippsy Mouse and her dandelion whistle,

Puffy Hamster with his shake-shake pea pod,

and little Webby Spider with his singing vzzziii-string.

When summer finally came to an end, all the fluffy little friends returned to preschool.

And one lovely morning their gentle teacher, Mrs Quacky Duck, had a marvelous idea.

“Let’s put on a concert for the whole preschool!”

Can you imagine?

A REAL concert!

Well…

The moment she said the word “concert,” every single one of our tiny musicians shot their paws straight into the air.

All five of them.

At once.

Mrs Quacky blinked in surprise.

Then she asked questions.

Then she looked amazed.

Then delighted.

And finally—

She clapped her wings together.

Because suddenly her classroom had turned into an entire orchestra!

That afternoon, after preschool ended, the little musicians grabbed all their instruments and hurried down to the riverside to rehearse.

Well…

Everyone except Chomper Raccoon.

After all, his instrument was permanently attached to his face.

The evening breeze blew softly through the grass.

The river sparkled golden in the sunset.

The little orchestra lined up proudly beside the water.

Ready?

Ready.

And then—

Tonnn!
Fffiiiuuu!
Vzzziiiuu!
SHAKA-RING!

The music had barely begun when suddenly—

POKKK!!!!

The whole orchestra froze.

Every furry little head spun toward the river.

What WAS that sound?!

It was PERFECT.

Musical.
Bouncy.
Funny.

Exactly the kind of sound their orchestra had been missing.

The little friends rushed straight to the water’s edge.

And there they discovered the most surprising musician of all.

A tiny silver fish was sticking her mouth out of the river and blowing enormous bubbles.

POKKK!

CLACK-SHHHHCLACK!

POKKK!

The bubbles popped so loudly that they echoed across the sleepy evening water.

Almost like fireworks.

Only softer.
And sillier.

The little fish looked shy at first.

After all, she didn’t even go to their preschool.

And she definitely was not fluffy.

Not even a tiny bit.

But her smooth silver scales shimmered in the evening light like tiny floating mirrors.

Beautiful little mirrors.

Naturally, the orchestra invited her to join immediately.

And that was how Splashy Fish became the newest member of the Sleepy River Band.

Ohhh, what hardworking little musicians they became after that.

They rehearsed beside the river until the sky turned dark blue.

Mostly because…

Well…

It was simply too much fun to stop.

Splashy Fish was the first to head home.

She flicked her tail—

splish-splash!

—and disappeared beneath the water.

Then Pippsy Mouse and Puffy Hamster skipped away together, holding paws and giggling sleepily.

A little later, Papa Spider arrived to collect Webby.

He looked even stricter than usual.

Especially after hearing seventeen straight minutes of:

VZZZIIIUUU!
VZZZIIIUUU!
VZZZZY-WIGGLE!

Soon Chomper Raccoon heard his family calling too.

He quickly hid his shiny teeth and scampered home through the grass.

And finally, little Chirpy Chick played one last proud drumroll:

PAM-pam-pap-PAAAAMMM!

Then he flapped happily home for dinner and bedtime cuddles.

That night every little musician slept deeply without twitching a single paw, whisker or tail.

And all the parents agreed on one very important thing:

Starting a children’s orchestra had been a wonderful idea indeed.

Sleep tight, little musicians. Sleep tight.

🌊 The Sunday night concert

A large white duck named Quack-Quack swims along a night river under the full moon, carrying sleeping forest animals on her back while little frogs and a bunny sleep behind her on lily pads.

Story reading time: 5 minutes

And finally…

Sunday arrived.

Concert day.

The entire preschool gathered beside the river for the big evening performance.

The concert HAD to happen near the water, of course.

Otherwise Splashy Fish would never have been able to join the orchestra.

But honestly?

None of the little ones minded at all.

Because Mrs. Quacky Duck had promised something absolutely magical after the show.

A moonlight river ride.

Just like a floating bedtime boat.

And so, one by one, the little musicians appeared in the meadow beside the water:

Chirpy Chick with his flower drums.

Chomper Raccoon and his clickety-clack teeth.

Pippsy Mouse carrying her dandelion whistle.

Puffy Hamster hugging his shake-shake pea pod.

Little Webby Spider with his singing web-string.

And finally—

Splashy Fish popped her shiny silver head out of the river with a happy little:

PLOP!

Ohhh, how nervous they all felt.

This was their VERY first concert.

And not only had the preschool children gathered to watch…

Every nearby frog had arrived too.

Dozens of them.

Sitting very seriously on lily pads.

(As you can probably guess, they had listened to every single rehearsal all week long.)

The frogs folded their little paws neatly over their tummies.

The river became quiet.

The evening breeze softened.

The moon glowed silver across the water.

The little orchestra stepped forward.

The tiny musicians bowed politely.

And then—

The concert began.

Tonnn…
Fffiiiuuu…
Trrrrrymmm…

VZZZIIIUUU…
SHAKA-RING…

POKKK!!!

The music bounced across the sleepy riverbank.

And with every new song, the orchestra grew louder and sillier and happier:

TONNN-TONNN!
TRRRYMMM-TRRRYMMM!
FFFIIIUUU-FIIIIIUUU!

VZZZIIIUUU-VZZZIIIUUU!
SHAKA-RING! SHAKA-RING!

CLACK-SHHHHCLACK!
POKKK!!!
PLOP-POKKK!

The little musicians played…

And played…

And played some more.

The audience listened quietly…

The lily pads rocked gently on the water…

The moon floated higher into the sky…

And slowly…

Very slowly…

Every single listener grew sleepy.

The frogs drooped.
The bunny yawned.
Tiny eyes blinked softer and softer.

Until finally—

All the listeners had fallen fast asleep.

Mrs. Quacky Duck smiled her warm sleepy smile.

Then she carefully tied the floating lily pads together one behind another like little river train cars.

On the very best spot of all—

right on her soft warm back—

she seated the tiny musicians.

Then she gently stroked sleepy Splashy Fish with her beak because the poor little thing was practically sinking underwater from exhaustion.

She was THAT sleepy.

And then…

The floating bedtime train began its journey down the moonlit river.

Swishhhh…

Splashhh…

The leaf-train bobbed softly on the water.

Trees drifted past.
Bushes drifted past.
Silver moonlight shimmered quietly over the riverbanks.

Further…
And further…
Into the misty sleepy distance…

And the longer they floated together beneath the stars…

The deeper the little musicians slept.

Until one by one their parents arrived quietly at the riverbank to carry them home.

No one woke the sleepy little concert band.

Not even for a moment.

They were carried home carefully in warm furry paws and gentle feathered wings.

And that night every tiny musician slept more sweetly than ever before.

Sleep tight, little ones. Sleep peacefully.
